this is all so wonderfully nerdy. Very educational! This means I shoudl book a trip to south america, asap! I'm surprised paris was so affordable.
The amazing thing is that there's a story or explanation behind every stack in the chart!
oh, pray tell!
what does 'vacation' represent? yes - do tell!
"Vacation" represents the money spent during the weeks where J took official vacation days from work. For the most part of our 8 month trip we adhered to a pretty strict budget as if we were living at home. During vacation we'd splurge a little and treat it just like any vacation we'd take during a normal year. Does that make any sense?
In Paris, we got a fantastic deal on our flat (at the expense of a ridiculously small toilet room and shower). We were also super careful with our eat-out budget. We balanced expensive french meals (30-65 euros) with cheaper meals (e.g. 10-12 euros for gyros, mcd's, or crepes). Another way we saved some money was by buying wine at the supermarket and drinking it at home (when M cooked) instead of ordering it at restaurants.
